Collection: Quindalup Boat Ramp
Whenever I arrive at Quindalup Boat Ramp, I feel like I'm stepping into a quiet pocket of Geographe Bay that was made for photographers. In the early morning, the water settles into a perfect sheet of glass, and the timber jetty catches the first warm glow of sunshine. I often find myself slowing down here, waiting for that moment when the light softens just enough to turn the whole bay into a pastel reflection. The weathered jetty creates such strong leading lines that I'm always tempted to shoot wide and low, letting the horizon pull the viewer straight into the scene.
As the day shifts toward late afternoon, the atmosphere changes completely. The sun drops behind the peppermint trees, casting golden light across the shallows, and reveals those beautifully rippled sandbars beneath the surface. This is a good time to experiment with long-exposures or minimalist compositions, especially when storm fronts start rolling in from the Indian Ocean. Every time I shoot at Quindalup Boat Ramp, I'm reminded that it's more than a simple launch point - it's a place where light, texture, and calm water come together in ways that reward patience, curiosity, and a willingness to linger.
