Boranup Forest - BoF07
Boranup Forest - BoF07
Karri trees lined up in Boranup Forest.
Boranup forest, home to the worlds third tallest tree, the Karri tree. These giants can tower over the forest floor with up to fifty metres in height and make up a large section of the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park. There are a few gravel roads that take you on a scenic journey through the forest where you can get up close and personal with this majestic species of tree and appreciate the sheer size of them.
The forest floor has always been an extensive mass of ferns, bracken and Arum lillies until recent times where a massive bushfire ravaged its way through the forest destroying everything in its path. Amazingly, life is coming back and the undergrowth is starting to regenerate itself and I'm sure it won't be long before we see the forest in all its glory once more.
