Tasmania - Tas01
Old boat shed on the waters edge with imminent storm brewing on the horizon.
The Island State of Tasmania is separated from the mainland by the Bass strait some 240kms away. Initially known as Van Diemens land, Tasmania was subject to the practice of "transportation" where convicts were sent to the island as punishment and kept in penitentiaries and prisons. This practice ceased in 1853.
Today, Tasmania, relies heavily on tourism, agriculture and aquaculture as its main sources of economy. The Island is diverse in appearance with its Huon forests, inland waterfalls and rugged rocky coastlines.
