Wellington Dam - WeDa13
Wellington Dam - WeDa13
The beginning of the rapids of the Collie River.
Wellington Dam is the largest dam in the Southwest of the state and was built to supply the Collie River irrigation district.
Today the Dam wall showcases a giant 8000 square metre mural which was painted by artist Guido Van Helten over a period of approximately four months. The mural depicts people that have been involved in and around the dam and the Collie region.
The mural has to be seen in person to really appreciate the magnitude of it and understand the level of skill that would have been needed to succeed.
